For online sales, shipping charges are displayed at checkout. For UK orders, the standard charge is £4.00 for first class (‘next day’) delivery.

For US, Canada and Australia, charges vary according to book size and weight, and are displayed at checkout. The maximum add-on is £17.50 for our ‘large heavy’ books.

For Ireland/EU the maximum add-on is £9.00.

Comment:

At present, Royal Mail charges international rates for small parcels going from Northern Ireland to the Republic. It costs almost three times as much to send a book from Belfast to Dublin as it does from Belfast to London.

In contrast, An Post applies the same postal charge for small parcels anywhere in Ireland, whether the destination is in the Republic or the North of Ireland.

Beyond the Pale Books, which is based in Belfast, absorbs some of the shipping costs for destinations in the Republic and elsewhere in the world. For UK customers, the flat rate charge covers most of the postage and packing costs of sending a book within the UK.
